Our travel day was uneventful (which is a good thing). 18 hours of flight time, 31 hours of travel time brought us from Lompoc to LAX to Chicago to Amman Jordon to Jeddah Saudi Arabia to KAUST.
For those of you who don't know Kyle is a masters of engineering student at a relatively new university in Saudi Arabia called KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology). Kyle's in his second year and will finish his masters with thesis in June 2012. His research, too complicated for me to understand, involves developing detection devices using lasers to measure the content of certain gases. One aspect of that involves analyzing human breath for traces of certain gases. In any event, he's working in the Clean Combustion Research lab at KAUST.
As might be expected our body clocks are a little out of whack as we're 11 hours ahead of PST. Regardless we expect to tour KAUST tomorrow and get a lay of the land.
