We rented a car today from KAUST ($39) and ventured south to the city of Jeddah for a day trip with Kyle (Bridgette working). I had to drive as females can't and Kyle doesn't have his permit. Once in the city driving got a bit hectic. Kyle navigated while I honed my destruction derby skills. I often felt like a NY taxi driver as cars on the right of me turned in front of me going left while cars on my left were turning right.
We started in old town Jeddah where they are excavating and restoring many buildings some over 1,500 years old.
Then it was more driving to view sculptures and the everpresent King,

On our travels through Cornith we came upon a very nice beach and lots of upscale hotels.

We took a stroll on the beach enjoying the views.

Stopped by a large mall around 2 pm for lunch. Found the mall virtually empty of people. (Apparently stores are open from about 9 to 12:30 and then close for prayers and lunch re-opening after evening prayers around 7.) We were desperate for food. Our choice was between Fudruckers and Chili's. We opted for Fudruckers tasty burgers and a diet coke.

On our way back to KAUST we viewed several gas stations/theme parks.
That's all for now. More soon.
